Basic Brown Rice
I was influenced early on by macrobiotics, and I have always loved Asian cuisines, so brown rice is a staple for me.
1 cup brown rice I like either short or long grain, depending on use and mood
2 cups water
Bring water to boil, add rice, reduce heat to low and cook for 45-50 miuntes. Remove from heat and let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Optional: add something to season the rice while it cooks. A dried chili, dried mushroom or pinch of Mrs. Dash work for me.
